The House the 90s Built is the first book in a groundbreaking trilogy that merges memoir with Afro-futurist fiction. It’s my story—and the story of countless families—fighting the invisible chains of mental illness while finding joy and resilience in the scraps left behind.
Set in motion by a near-death experience, the book follows my journey back to the 1990s.
In the first book, I am thrust back to my childhood in the 1990s, reliving the joys and pains of growing up in a home shaped by mental illness, systemic barriers, and family love. Themes of resilience, sisterhood, and healing take center stage as I begin to understand the roots of our family’s struggles.
In the second book, I time travel forward to meet my great-great-granddaughter, who uses a super quantum computer to rewrite our family’s history. This encounter forces me to confront the ethical implications of rewriting the past while grappling with the transformative possibilities of quantum technology.
